The many friends of Miss Ivy Robinson, third daughter of Mr. Jas. Robinson, of the Taihapo district, will be sorry to hoar of her sudden death at Taihapo after an operation, which was not considered to bo a serious one. Miss Robinson was buried at the Taihapo Cemetery on the 21st' inst.

Miss J. Neill, of Feilding, who is spending a holiday in Napier, is the guest of her aunt, Miss Neill, Amisfield, TOKOMARU. Miss Jean Forsyth returned to Hastwell on Saturday. Miss L. B. Mackenzie returned from Taumarunui on Friday.

Miss McCastlcy who has been a guest of Mrs Forsyth returned to Palmerston North on Saturday.

Miss E. Clarke, of Palmerston North, was the guest of Mrs AY. H. Webb for the weekend.

Miss Dorothy Webb who spent a very enjoyable holiday in Turakina, returned home on Friday.

The ladies’ hockey club held the first of their fortnightly dances on Friday night. The first part of the evening was devoted to progressive euchre, all tables being filled. The prize winners were:—Ladies: Mrs Poach 1, Mrs E.’ Todd 2. Consolation,, Miss ’Mavis Schwass. Gentlemen: Mr C. Jamieson 1, Mr V. McLaggan 2. Consolation, Mr. C. Osman.

Between the dances items were rendered by Mr. Howard Andrew and Misses Margaret Webb and Valda Morgan. There was a good attendance, visitors being present from Shannon, Linton, Makorua and Palmerston North. Thus the hockey funds were very much augmented. The music for the dance was supplied free by the Misses Brce. Webb, Williams, Mrs Vaughan and Messrs Bayliss and Nash.
