A recant claim on behalf of Mr uicli ard Cockburn, of Berwick, to be “perhaps” the oldest Oddfellow in Britain, has been challenged by Mr William B. Davies, of Bryuglass, Consctt, who proudly boasts of (30 years’ membership of the order, and who, in his eightyseventh year, is still hale and hearty and likes a good cigar. Mr Cockburn’s claim evas to “over GO years.” Mr Davies has also boon a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters since 1865, and4ms passed through practically the whole of the offices pertaining to the two orders.
