WORK IN THE BOROUGH
ENGINEER’S REPORT. At last evening’s meeting of the Redding Borough Council, the engineer (Mr T. K. Hay) submitted tho following report on the different works in the borough for the month of April:— Streets and Drains. Church street footpath from i’ilzroy street to Camden street, was cleaned up, coated with chips and sprayed. ISO cubic yards of metal were distributed for maintenance of roads. 30 cubic yards of gravel and IS cubic yards of sand were carted to dumps. 17 cubic yards of spoil wore sold. Pharazyn street has been lightly metalled and rolled, and sides trimmed with the grader. Other streets repaired and graded arc Ranfurly road, Wellesley stioct, Glasgow Terrace, Tiritoa Terrace, West street, Beattie street snd Church street.
The following were lightly medalled; Beat!io street, Denbigh #treet and a portion of Derby street.
The sides of live bitumen road in Manchester street, Camden street, Chamberlain street, and Makino road, were trimmed up with the grader. A 9-inch pipe has been laid from the outlet of Victoria Park across Lethbridge street to the Bcattio street drain. This to deviate the water from Church street where flooding frequently occurs. A 9-inch pipe was also laid across Hobson street to the Makino stream.
