Mr. J. W. Ferglo, of the Railway Publicity Department. Wellington, spent the week-end iii Palmerston North. v Mr. J. Ecntoul, of Auckland, chairman of the Honey Control Board, was a visitor to Palmerston North over the week-end. Prior to leaving for the King Country where he intends to set up in business, Mr. W. Nant, of the staff of the Kairanga Meat Coy. was farewelled by his fellow employees, on Friday evening and presented- with an illuminated clock. Mr. G. R. Brown, who made' the presentation, spoke of the high esteem in which Mr. Nant had been held for the seven years he had boon with the firm, and wished him the best of luck in his now sphere. Mr. J. H. Luxford, a well-known and popular member of the Auckland Bar, has been appointed Stipendiary Magistrate. It is not yet known in which centre he will bo stationed. Mr. Luxford was born in Palmerston North in 1890, and is the youngest son of Mr. W. L. Lurford, now of Mount- Albert. He has had a distinguished career as an athlete and his war record is extremely creditable for he was specially mentioned in despatches from Franc# by the late Earl Haig.—Press Associar tion.
