McDonald Does Hat Trick AND TAKES EIGHT WICKETS FOR 47 WINS FOB FEUDING AND PUBLIC SEBVICE. Interest was well maintained in the concluding stages of the first matches of the third round of the Feilding and District Cricket Association’s competition on Kowhai Park on Saturday, when McDonald, Feilding’s best allround player, did the “ hat trick,” and also captured eight wickets for 46 runs. McDonald is certainly a consistent performer for Public Service. In the opening innings of the match against Old Boys he made 75 and then captured five wickets for 42. On Saturday when the match was resumed, ho was dismissed by Dewc for 6, but his accurate bowling more than made up for his deficient score. When Bramwell, Fowler and Carthew were dismissed by successive balls, spectators roundly applauded McDonald for his splendid effort. Public Service who made 246 in their first innings had a lead of 111 when they went in to bat on Saturday but Lange was tho only player in hitting form. He made 23 and the innings closed for a total of 54, leaving Old Boys 166 to get for victory. Dcwe took five of the wickets for 25 and Bramwell 4 for 27. Old Boys found McDonald in groat bowling form and the team -was dismissed for 96, 48 of which came off Cochrane’s bat. Public Service thus iron the game by 69 runs. The victors were without tho services of McLeod and Old Boys were short of Penney. Feilding won their second match when they defeated Colyton by 57 runs. Colyton had a lead of 4 runs when Feilding opened their second- account which reached a total of 137, Laing being responsible for 43 and Jefferies 2S. Bowling honours wont to Power, who on the previous Saturday took 7 wickets for 35 and on Saturday last captured 6 for 32. With one player absent Colyton replied with 76 of which Raisin provided 21 and Folding won tho day by .57 runs. McElroy got four wickets for 21 and Jefferies 3 ’for 17.
