Roland Deane, president of the International Mining Company, had, some years past bough a mine known as the “Little Anna,’’ but the deed had been stolen. He has just transferred his valuable property to his company when Dave Sinclair appears and admits that he had stolen the deeds and still has them. He demands 100,000 dollars for the deeds otherwise be will place Deane in a bad position for trying to sell a mine he cannot prove he owns. John Rowan the original owner of the mine has suffered reverses. He appeals to Deane for help and Deane offers him a large sum if he can secure the mine deeds from Sinclair. Deane’s financial rise has given him an entree into society and his engagement to an impecunious but socially elect debeulane is about to be announced when Deane hears over the radio that Sinclair has been killed and Rowan arrested for the murder. Deane rushes from (he engagement party and gets his lawyer and gives him instructions to defend Rowan to the limit. The Riddle Rider Matinee will bo held on Tuesday this week instead of Wednesday,
