Maiiawatu Easily Beat Hawke’s Bay ENJOYABLE MATCH AT DANNEVIRKE A representative Manawatu tennis team Journeyed to Dannevirico on Saturday to meet the chosen representatives of the Hawke’s Bay Lawn Tennis Association. Weather conditions were excellent and the courts 'were playing very fast and true. The Manawatu visitors were hospitably entertained by the Hawke’s Bay Association and tho Dannevirko Lawn Tennis Club.

Unfortunately Hawke’s Bay were without a number of their strongest lady players and in consequence slumped badly in the' ladies’ singles and doubles. ' Manawatu, however, proved superior in the other departments also and won comfortably by 40 sets to 12 and 313 games to 203. Takaro paid a return visit to West End on Saturday when an enjoyable afternoon was spent, the visitors being hc-spitaably entertained. Although represented by a strong team of ladies, who won nearly all their games, Takaro. were without the services of their best men, and as a result the home team 'scored a win by ten sets to six. Miss Carty, an exHigh School girl, now at Victoria College, played first lady for Takaro, and shows promise of a brilliant future.
