PALMERSTON NORTH’S NARROW VICTORY.

Ten points only separated the Palmerston North and Feilding at tho conclusion of Saturday's interclub rink contest, the aggregate scores being 113 (Palmerston North) and ,103 (Feilding). As the scores indicate there were many close games while two were of a somewhat remarkable nature. G. Wilson’s rink reached 13 points with a good lead of their opponents. There they stuck however, to let tho Feilding players skipped by Herdman, to romp home 21—14. It will thus be seen that Wilson only managed to add a single point after having been held up on the unlucky number. In the game between rinks skipped by Tasker and Williamson, there were no less than 18 single-point heads while the remaining 3 heads, produced two’s. . The North Island Rink championship will bo decided at this tourney and it is anticipated that the event will draw many outsiders to the town. , . .■' Terraco End Green. Takaro failed altogether to gauge jthe pace of the Terrace End green In their attempt to lift the Manson and Barr cup,' Terraco End early secured a commanding lead which culminated In a crushing defeat for the challengers/ Details were: Terrace End Grant, Webley, Wallace, Davidson, (a) 28; Takaro: Usmar, Childs, Morgan, Smith (s) 8. - Harris Stars. The contest for this trophy was held on the Terraco End green at 5.30 on Saturday. One condition In playing for the stars Is that two colts on cither aide must form part of each rink. The astonishing popularity and progress of bowling In Palmerston North Is reflected in the remarkable increase In membership in at least on club. The Palmerston North club has in two years, almost dbubled its membership which In 1926 stood at 55. On Saturday' last, however, the hundredth member was added making a fifty per cent, increase In membership in two years. ' The five clubs in Palmerston North now have about 330 active members.
