The Hon. W. D. Stewart arrived at Dunedin on Saturday afternoon and wil remain there two weeks.—Press Association. The name of Mr A. E. Campbell of Palmerston North was omitted froij| the list of Palmerston North and district successes in the University nf New Zealand do s wo examinations. Mr Campbell took final B.A. by passing in education. Mr 3. W. Fergie, who for some time past has filled the post of chief stationmasters’’ clerk, at the Palmerston North railway station, left this morning by the Limited express to take up his, new duties in the publicity office of the Railway Department, Wellington. The funeral of the two victims of the level crossing tragedy at Levin— Mr and Mrs Eyes—took place yesterday, the cortege being one of th'e largest in the history of Leven, where the deceased were so well known and widely esteemed. The bodies were laid in a common grave and the service was conducted by Rv. J. C. Davies,-of the Anglican Church. Death has removed one of tho bestknown figures in the Rangitikei district in tho person of Mr Robert Bernard Kilgour, who passed a way in a private hospital in Levin on Friday. The deceased gentleman,’ who was 59 yfiars of age, was engaged in carting rushes a fortnight ago , .on his son’s farm at Manukau,’ wlien he slipped and fell off the load, hitting his head on tho ground. • Ho was removed to a hospital in Levin and meningitis set in, terminating fatally oh Friday. Born in Bulls, tho son of Mr Robert Kilgoui", he lived at Grcatford, Upper TuUcnui and Marten—in tho latter place for 25 years. There Mr Kilgour Was for many years secretary of the Farmers’ Union, while he was also one of tho founders and the first secretary of the Rangitikei A. and P. Association. Ho was a groat worker in the interests of tho man on the land and took a prominent part in all the movements for the advancement of primary production. , Four years ago Mr Kilgour went to Mariukau to farm on a larger scale with his son. He is survived by a widow, one son and five daughters—Mrs L. P. Baird (Raetihi) Mrs Ivan Drake (ManuFau), and throe daughters at homo. Two sons predeceased their father. Tho interment, which was private, took place at Bulls yesterday.
