FEILDING BOROUGH
ENGINEER’S REPORT. ON VARIOUS WORKS. At last evening’s meeting of the Feilding Borough Council the borough engineer (Mr. T. K. Hay) submitted the following report on the . various works within the borough:— “ During the month road maintenance has consisted only of minor street repairs and trimming up with the grader. Ranfurly and Awahuri roads. West, South. East, Denbigh and Beattie streets and Makino road having been so treated: 24 cubic yards of metal were carted to dumps and 103 cubic yards were distributed on the streets; 1596 cubic yards of spoil were removed from street gradings of . which amount 1463 cubic yards were carted to Johnston Park. An old wooden culvert crossing East street at Onglcy street has been replaced with 55ft Of 9in. pipe. A disused culvert crossing in Kombolton road at Weld street which had been broken through lias been taken out and the road made good. Numerous asphalt paths have been .repaired and tarred and a nunibor repaired ready for tarring. These include Kimbolton road from Stafford street to Manchester street north side and fronting the Post Office. The footpath in West street for approximately seven chains north of King street has been formed. Makino road footpath between Root street and the Cheltenham factory is being clained up and formed for gravelling. Relief work: The only men now employed on relief work are those engaged- at Johnson Park. Safety zones in East street: In connectiftn with the placing of safety zones in East street, as asked for by the Lytton- street school committee’, the owners of the properties concerned readily gave permission to fence off corners of their sections for the purpose. Three safety zones or compounds have been constructed:” —Received.
