A Press Association telegram from Crrlstchurch states that Miss Ida M. Cooper, organising secretary to the Britlh and Foreign Bibl e Society, died suddenly at her lodgings yesterday. She ivas a daughter of Mr. W. Cooper formerly of the Treasury, Wellington. She was secretary to Mr. T. M. Wilford when he was Leader of the Opposition and she went Home during tho war to take war work ‘in hand.

An interesting visitor to Palmerston N. on Friday will be tho Rev. Lionel D. Fletcher, minister of the Boresford Street Congregational Church, Auckland. The ability of Mr. Fletcher as a preacher of the Gospel is known throughout the whole of tho Empire. On his arrival in Auckland three years ago his present church was in a very low condition. But now it has proved too small for the enormous congregation, that wishes to attend. To provide for his people Mr. Fletcher took the beautiful new Majestic Theatre which is crowded every Sunday with a congregation of over two thousand. Mr. Fletcher wll conduct a service in the local Congregational Church on Friday evening. Those who Intend being present are requested to be present early so' as to sav 0 disappointment. Scats will be assured for regular church attenders until 7.15.

Mr. Francis Joseph Lissingtpn, for many years one °f the best-known residents of the Karorl distret, died suddenly on Monday at the residence of his son,. Mr. Frank Lissington, Friend Street, Karori, aged 60 years. Ho was a son of the late Mr. F. J. Lissington, and the brother of Messrs. Jack Lissington, the borough sanitary inspector, and James Lissington, of Palmerston N. Th c late Mr. Lissington was born in Wellington. After completing his education, he entered the service, of the Westport Coal Company and when the State Coal Department was formed was, appointed accountant of it, in which capacity he acted until his retirement some aix years ago. He was one of the founders of the Karori Rifle Club, and served as a member of the Karori Borough Council for a number of years. Ho was chairman of the local school commitee for a lengthy period, and always took a keen and active Interest In all movements connected with amateur sport. On his retirement from the State Coal, Department ho bought a farm In the Te Awamutu district, and thereafter resided there. Ho was on a visit to his son when he suddenly expired. Ho leaves a widow and family of throe sons and one daughter, with whom sincere sympathy will bo felt in their sad bereavement. .
