LINTON RIFLE CLUB

ANNUIAL MEETING. Mr. H. Akers presided over the annual meeting of the Linton Rifle Club last evening, when there was a fairattendance of members. Annual Report. The annual report stated that al-i though the past season had been rather a small one as, far as membership was concerned, and although the, Aokautere range had been expensive in upkeep, the Club still showed ai small credit balance. On the open range, competitions had been keenly Contested, and at the final shoot for the championship Rifleman T. Ed-; wards ha* come out on top. At. Wanganui last Christmas the. Club members had made a name for themselves, especially in the teams match. The New Year meeting at Trentham had also found the Club members to the fore, Rifleman J. C.' Carter being only one point behind the winner. At the Trentham meeting in March there ,liad been fourteen Club members present, and these had shot well in the individual matches, and had also managed to get to eighth place in the C.A.C. match. Rifleman Thompson had performed his duties as officer in charge of the service shoot with marked efficiency. On the Miniature Range the standard of shooting had gone back from the start, but in the final shoot the Club had won the McKelvie Cup back again from Bulls. , During the year a valued member of the Club, the deputy president (Mr. jr. Needham) had moved to Auckland, and prior to his departure had been tendered a smoko concert. On the president’s (Mr. H. Akersy removal of residence to Linton - he had also been tendered a smoko concert. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £l2 9s, and together, with the report, was adopted. Election Of Officers. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. F. J. Nathan;: President, Mr. H. Akers; Deputy President, Mr. C. J. Page; vice-presi-dents. Messfs. J. C. Carter, W. Randell, G. Tremaine, G. Newth, G, Craw, W. Ball, J. Kyler and W. L. Pitzherhert; open range committee, Messrs. Ball, Edwards, Barlow, Ramsay and Shelley; miniature range committee, Messrs. Page, Griffiths, Randell, Lewis, Dalziell; secretary, Mr. T. R. Edwards; assistant secretary. .Mr. F. R. Lewis; handlcapper, Mr. W. Randell; decision committee, Mr. W. Randell; auditor, Mr. A. P. Stuart: sightsetters, Messrs. Barlow and Dalziell. Messrs. Shelley and Lewis were appointed- delegates to the Manawatu Miniature Rifle Association. A hearty vote of tha'nks was accorded to Mr. R. W. H. Ramsay, a member of the Club, for his. valuable work on the range.
