WHEN MAKING UP KNITTED GARMENTS

First of all press all 1 the pieces separately on a blanket with a warm iron, and a clean, damp rag between the iron and the knitting. Stock-ing-stitch should always bo ' pressed on the right side, other stitches on the wrong. Ribbing should be pressed, very lightly. If you find you have knitted too loosely, you can often shrink the work considerably by using quite a wet cloth and hot iron. Sew up the seams with the same wool as the garment, dr with a thinner wool matching in colour. It is a good plan to tack the pieces to, be joined on a piece of paper with the edges just touching, then draw them together with an over-and-over stitch hot taken too tightly. Press all seams on the wrong side.
