DEATH IN POLICE CELLS

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Last Night. John Kennedy, aged 63, a resident of Wellington, was found dead in the police cells on Christmas Eve. He had been arrested on a charge of drunkenness, and was visited at regular intervals by the police, from whom he received every attention. After midnight he must have had a seizure, for shortly after he was found to be dead. At the inquest it was stated that he had received all possible attention from the police. Medical testimony was that deceased had had an apopletic seizure, from which he had died.
