REPORT ON RIDINGS. At the monthly meeting of the Kairanga County Council yesterday, the engineer (Mr J. H. Menzics) reported its follows on the work carried out in the county;— The average number of men employed had been 33, and four contracts were in progress. A motor grader was expected in about a week. The joint report on proposed improvements to Mangaone outlet had been prepared and was now available for local bodies interested. Taonui. —The tractor grader outfit had been over most of the roads ill the riding, main highways being raked in several times. An old timber culvert on Longburn-Rongotca road was very much decayed, and it was proposed to replace this with a concrete . culvert. . Mangaone. —The pipes on Kiuranga-Riinnythorpe road near Cowen’s had been taken up and replaced by an eight by four reinforced concrete . culvert 30fL long. These pines would be used for a culvert on Roberts’ Cine near I. Ddnald’s. where flip existing pipes were too small U was proposed to make the approaches to Inc old bridge on Roberts’ line suitable for stock traffic. The .tractor grader had been over several roads throughout the riding. Fitzberbert.—Horse teams bad bc-cn chiefly employed carting gravel to dumps and direct to the roads. Men from the middle section bad been employed on Kahuferawa road, clearing slips and watertablos and gravelling. Several pipes bad been ordered to replace an old timber culvert. The main road had been graded and portions gravelled. Plans for the replacement of Bryant’s Bridge had been completed. It was proposed to put a large concrete culvert on a now alignment under (he existing bridge and to make a filling over the culvert, raising the present- level of tlie road, privinpr a straight run across the gully.
