BOWLING

(From Our Own Correspondent.) At the usual monthly meeting of the School Committee, the headmaster's (Mr. W. F. StansoU’s) report showed the average daily attendance for the current quarter at 75.74, while that for the year would work out at about 76. At present 85 pupils are on the roll, but 15 of these are leaving at the end of the year, this will necessitate the staff being reduced to two teachers. A.t the recent examinations all pupils in Standard VI passed, 5 gaining proficiency certificates and 3 competency. The necessary funds have been collected for the prizegiving, which is to take place on breaking up day, December 17, at 2 p.m. Gymnasium. A repetition of the gymnasium concert was given at Waituna on Friday evening. In connection with the gymnasium club a pleasing little function took place at the Methodist Sunday School room, when Mrs. R. Forgusson, of Kakariki, entertained the pupils and their tutor (Mrs. T. Flower) at an afternoon tea. A very enjoyable time was spent and the occasion was taken advantage of by the pupils, in presenting Mrs. Flower with a handbag, as some slight, recognition of her services which had been so freely given. Mis s D- Managh made the presentation. The same young lady also presented Mrs. R. Managli with a cloek in recognition of her services as accompanist to the club. Mrs. Flower j and Mrs. Managh suitably responded. Stan way. Arrangements are well in hand for the Children’s Fancy Dress Ball tonight. There is also to be a Christmas Tree, with free gifts for the children, Father Christmas arriving at 9 p.m. An adults’ dance will follow, and the function should prove most enjoyable.
