SENTENCES AT AUCKLAND. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Last Night. Mr Justice Adams, dealing with Patrick Shields Hargraves for theft of a typewriter, deferred sentence for two years under strict conditions, which practically amount to probation. He referred to accused’s excellent w r ar record, and said that his trouble was no {oubt due to drink and perhaps, to some extent to his wav experiences. Mr Justice Adams sentenced Harry Victor Barker, aged 23. for,lndecent assault, to detention for reformative tre-'Lnont not, exceeding two years. Charles Henry Larsen, for theft, MSS sentenced to three months’ hard labour Ernest Albert Turner, for theft of postal packet at Te iAwamutu, to two years’ hard labour. Charles Powell Cooke, for breaking entering and theft to nine months hard labour. William Matthew, for forgery, to two years' probation. P. tor Dowie, for indecent assault on his step-daughter, to two yearrr hard labour. Alexander Ronald McDonald, for theft from postal packets at Auckland, nine months hard labour. Colin McDonald, for common assault, three months hard labour. William Ernest Snelllng for carnal knowledge and indecent assault, three years ’hard labour. Thomas Kelly, for breaking, entering and theft, two years’ probation. Victor John Smith and Edward Ernest Green, for receiving, twelve months’ hard labour. Cecil Raymond Brown, for breaking, entering and theft, six months’ hard labour. James Duff, for receiving, nine months’ hard labour. Eric Heath Hunter Taylor, for assault, twelve months’ hard labour. Joseph Patrick O’Neill, for indecent assault, twelve months’ hard labour. George Courteney Bacon, negligent driving causing death, fined £SO In default nine months’ imprisonment, and license suspended for three years.
