TWO LABOUR LEADERS

A REMARK ABLE DISPUTE. AIR LAXG AND MR THEODORE. Remarkably contradictory slatej incuts have been made by (ho Proi mier of N.-w South Wales. Mr J. T. i Rang, a in- .Mr K. G. Theodore, for■meily I’r mhr of Queensland, roigarding the lailer’s intervention irv j the present labour dispute in New | South Wales. ! Air Rang has denied that lie was in any way responsible for the intervention by Mr Theodore. “I think," said Mr Lang, “it will only bo necessary to point out that on September 10 last Mr Theodore wrote: ‘My intervention was a disinterested attempt, to overcome the the unfortunate antagonisms which exist within the movement, and which imperil its unity. I was not acting' as an emissary for any faction.’ “If Mr Theodore,” added Mr Lang, ’has actually made contradictory statements on this Question, I naturally cannot help that, and 1 can only assort again that the declaration that I requested him to arrange a conference between me and representatives of the A.W.U. is not in accordance with fact.”

Air Theodore subsequently made the following statement; “My first interview with the Premier was prompted by Mr Baddciey. Subsequently Mr Lang asked me if I would ascertain from the leaders of the A.W.U. whether they wore willing to meet him, and other representatives of the A.L.P., to thrash out all questions that were causing disunity and antagonism in the movement. It will thus be seen that I acted in this matter at the request of Mr Lang.”
