BRITISH MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
LARGE LABOUR GAINS, [By Electric Cable—Copyright.) (Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.j (Received Tuesday, 7.45 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 2. Municipal elections in three hundred English and Welsh boroughs, omitting London, resulted in large Labour gains. In 7G3 seats contested, the nett Labour and Socialist gain thus far, is 139 seats, the Conservatives losing 60, Liberals 49, and Independents 21. The Socialists now control Leeds and Sheffield and also made 10 gains in Stoke, and 7 . in Manchester.
