FRANCO-GERMAN NEGOTIATIONS

The Chancellor at a meeting of the Centro Party in Erfurt, said that protracted negotiations were necessary in continuation of the Thoiry discussions. Germany could demand a release of occupied territories only when a moans of rendering financial aid to Franco by way of mobilisation of railway bonds could bo found. American co-operation was essential, but. pending ratification of debt settlement, this was doubtful, as even a Franco-German loan would be regarded with misgivings. A complete reconciliation of France and Germany was only possible by an absolute liberation of the occupied territories. Nevertheless the important fact remained that negotiations had taken place at Thoiry.
