FEILDING FARMERS’ FREEZING CO.
ANM Alj MEETING OF SHARIiHOJuDERS. The annual meeting of the Feilding Farmers’ Freezing Company, Btd., was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall yesterday afternoon, Mr. J. G. Cobbe, chairman of directors, presiding over a small attendance of shareholders. The annual report and balancesheet, already published, was adopted on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. J. Corpe. Air. F." J. Mann asked for information as to the meat put through the company’s shops and the profit made from the sales. In reply, the chairman said that any carcases which were bruised and therefore not suitable for export, were sold at the shop. They were simply rejects, but nevertheless good moat. A small profit was made, but he could not say what it amounted to. Air. Mann said he thought it was unfair that the company should compensate against the local butchers during the period when the -works were closed.
The chairman said that if the butchers’ shops had not been open the small surplus would have been a g-reater deficit. Mr. ATann went on to say that the company had purchased stock and had it slaughtered at the municipal abattoir for sale at the company’s shops. The chairman denied that any stock had been slaughtered at the abattoir during the past twelve months. The retiring directors, Messrs. W. .1. Poison, I/. T. AlcLean, and D. Collis, were re-elected unopposed. Mr. S. M. Hobbs was re-elected auditor.
