JAPAN ANYTHING BUT DECADENT
Coiimierce and Finance Both Improving
BELITTLING MESSAGES DEPRECIATED
[By Electric CaWc—Copyrlgl. ‘.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.! (Received Friday, 11.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 29.
The “Financial Times,” discussing the future of Japan, says it is difficult to conceive the utility of the belittling messages recently published. It is true that the country suffered an economic setback, but -with Hie exception of the United States, there Is no nation that was engaged in the war of which the same cannot bo said. The country, broadly speaking, is improving both financially and commercially, if the magnitude of the restoration work ia remembered. Wo do not think there is any danger of Japan having to take a lower place among tho nations. The period of apparent quietude does net mean decay.
