DOCTOR FIGHTS PATIENT
AND SAVES HIM PROM DYING. A fight between a doctor and a patient who was suffering from a severe affection of the throat .took place on a deserted stretch of road between Chalais and Barbezieux in the Charento Department. Dr. Larrieu, of Calais, was driving the patient ,a middle-aged man, to hospital at Barbezieux, for an operation on his throat. Half-way there n e found that the man was choking, owing to the rapid' progress of the disease. Stopping his motor-car ana propping the man up on the bank, tire doctor decided to attempt an immediate operation. He was about to perform the operation of tracheotomy when the man grappled with him. They rolled in the road, and it was only after a desperate fight that the doctor, bleeding and with his clothes in tatters, was able to overcome the resistance of his patient and make the necessary incision in the throat to enable him to pass down it a tube and thus restore normal breathing.
Pfe then carried the man back to the car and completed the journey to Barbezicux. There is every hope of the patient's recovery
