CANADIAN CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP
MR. MEIGHEN RESIGNS. [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Tuesday 9.35 p.m.) Ottawa, Oct. 11. Sir. Meighen otlicially tendered his resignation of the Conservative leadership, at a Parly Caucus, attended by two hundred leading members today. Mr. Hugh Guthrie, member Cor South Wellington, was appointed to act as leader in the House until a successor to Meighen was chosen by the National convention! at the nd of the Parliamentary session. Mr. Guthrie has been a member since 1904, was Solicitor-General in the Unionist Cabinet In 1907, Minister of Militia in 1930-21, and Minister of National Defence tu the late Muighsn fUtmuu.stm.fimu
