FLOWERS, VEGETABLES, STOCK-AND BABIES! fine Exhibition of District’s Produce All roads led to Apiti yesterday, the occasion being the annual Industrial and Horticultural Show of the district which was held in Mr. H. Watson’s paddock and shed. The enterprising committee and officials had gone to a great deal of trouble in an endeavour to make this year’s display a recordbreaking one and consequently everyone was pleased when after a stormy night, the day broke fine and it was realised thajt all that was then necessary to accomplish this was wholehearted support in the way of attendance. In this direction, the Show committee was not to bo disappointed farmers and their wives and families ciui)ttlng their day’s work and gathering together from far and near to witness a splendid display of stock, farm and horticultural exhibits and excellently-contested competitions and Other events.

The Show w r as opened by the patron, Mr. H. Alclntyre, who referred to the display as a reflection of the prosperity of tho district and congratulated . the president, secretary and committee on the splendid manner In which they had organised Jthe Show. He also expressed th 0 hope that next year when the electric current was available the Show would be kept open at night also. The judges were as follows: —Sheep Romneys and black-faccs, Mr. L. T. McLean: fats, Air. AI. A. MacLeod; cattle, Mr. D. Kilgour; horses, Mr. Wm. Taylor; Industrial, Mrs. E. H. Haythorne: general. Mrs. E. Whitehead; bread and sweets, Mr. E. Whitehead; cut flowers, Mr. F. Alason; vegetables and farm produce, Mr. E. Lange; school-work, Air. H. Alclntyre; baby show, Mesdames Webb and Waugh.
