At about 2 o'clock on Saturday morning, an outbreak of fire occurred at the Manawatu heads, resulting in the total destruction of a residence known as Pioneer Camp. The owner is Mr W. The brigade, on arrival, found the flames had a good hold, the roof having fallen in. The nearest fire plug being some distance away, a good deal or hose had to be run out, which delayed matters. The house was completely destroyed. The owner is Mr H. Hurley, of Wellington. The insurances are not available. The house was formerly occupied by,Mr W. Walbutton, carrier,, of Foxton.
