FIRES STILL RAGING

Bush fires are still raging, but by a groat effort the fire fighters saved llio phosphate mill. DANGER GROWS HOURLY. .. MELBOURNE. March 4. On Mount Plenty and the surrounding districts gangs of fighters are still battling against bush fires. The danger grows hourly. A strong northerly wind has materially increased the gravity of the situation. On Mount Plenty alone over £1.000,000 worth of mountain ash has been destroyed, and a plantation of pine trees, valued at £1,000,000. is almost in the direc* track of the fire. The phosphate works arc in danger and strenuous efforts arc being made to sav e them.
