WONDERFUL RANGITIKEI
PRAISING THE DISTRICT. NEW DISCOVERY.
Rangitikei Is being put on the map during the Agricultural College controversy. Some of its neighbours are learning Just now what a wonderful district they really have at their very backdoor. Said the Mayor of Wanganui (Mr Hope Gibbons), when speaking at the Chamber of Commerce meeting the other night: “Few of us know what a wonderful district we have in the' Rangitikei. Anyone who was not conversant with the lay of tho country, he added, would be astounded at the glorious panoramic views that were to be obtained in the district from vantage points. The roads and farms were good and everything seemed to be progressing in a fairly reasonable way. One farmer he had encountered on his recent tour in connection with tho selection of an agricultural College site, said he owned 800 acres of land. H e had 2000 ew e s, which produced 2400 lambs, and he received 28s for his first and second drafts. Another farmer had mentioned that he owned 400 acres, 300 of which were in grass. The land carried three ewes to the acre, and the farmer had sold all his lambs. Now It is up to our Manawatu sheep farmers to beat that.
