In the case in which a man was charged with women at New Brighton a witness stated various games were played on the beach. Witness „and her sister participated in a game of ‘‘housey housey”. A man other than defendant pushed his way in between witness and her sister and paid their entrance fee to the game. Another witness said the game was the ‘’rowdiest he had seen on the teach." In fining defendant £2 and costs, the Magistrate said probably defendant was suffering from the effects of liquor and the excitement of the game.
