There was a remarkable drama of vengeance at Caen where, in July, 1914, two villagers quarrelled. One, Tocapello, knocked down the other, Gohomal, who died. Torcapello was acquitted of murder and went to Cherbourg. He returned on Sunday to attend his lather’s funeral. He met in a cafe Gehemal’s young son, who cried: “I must avenge my father!’’ and emptied a revolver magazine into Torcapello’s body, point blank. >
