Owners of ponies should note that a challenge cup, presented by Mr J. D. Ramsden, valued at live guineas has been allotted to the jump for ponies 14.3 hands and under on the second day of the Danuevirke A. and P. Association’s show, on February 10th. and 11th. This is the first tinn it will be competed for In the dog trial' to be held under the auspices of the North Island Dog Trial Association, in addition to the substantial money prizes, a gold medal Will also go to the winner of the event. In all the competitions substantial cash prizes have been allotted, and the various valuable challenge cups and trophies, in addition to several new ones, again figure in the schedule, copies pi which, with all particulars desired* can be obtained on application to the secretary, Mr H. S. M. Quigley. The cattle men „ have, as usual, been liberally catered for. As regards Shorthorns and Herefords, adiiional classes have been added to these sections, and they arc now placed on an equality with all th other, purebred breeds. Owners of Ayrshlres should note that Mr T. Is. Colpman, of Ohau, has donated a cup to replace the one won outright by him. Each winner’s name, will he engraved on the cup, and a miniature will be presented to the person who annexes this trophy, which is la the nature of a perpetual challenge cup. There is also a gold mental for the champion Ayrshire bull. In Jerseys there are senior and junior championship classes, and in addition to the usual* open classes, there an# society’s district, so that owners and others confined to exhibitors in the breeders would do w-ell to make themselves acquainted with the details of the schedule. Another feature at note is the class for the grand champion cow of the show, to be judged on dairy type, and in which the champion cow of each dairy breed is eligible to compete. The Dannevirke and District Jersey Cattle Club has contributed liberally towards this section of the show, and it is expected that there will be record response from district and outside breeders.
