A DRAYMAN’S WIVES
PERFECT PEACE IN PRISON. PHILADELPHIA. December 6. Every man is presumed by the law to be capable of protecting himself from his wife —but if he has several the law is not altogether unreason able. A gaolkeeper on duty at the gate in Philadelphia w r as approached in the early part of the evening by a broadshouldered man, who said he -was a drayman. On the other side of the road were two women talking in high and angry tones. The drayman admitted to the warder that he had committed bigamy, and begged for protection from his angry waves. The gatekeeper had compassion.' The man who had loved too much was given a peaceful night’s lodging and charged in the miorning with bigamy.
