LAMB AND MUTTON
SLUMP HEAVILY AT SMITIIITELD. [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N 7 Cable Assoclatlon.l LONDON, December 1. Mr Hassan, in an interview, said that lamb and mutton had slumped heavily. Possibly the position would ~orse m January owing to the abnormal supplies of home-killed, due to increased production, also the forced influx of fresh meat hushed into the yards on account of the extension of foot and mouth disease in Britain. Consequently imported stocks were accumulating and a large shipment afloat from Australia was likely to incur heavy storage charges. It was expected that the total imported stocks in January would be 1,400,000 carcases. Meanwhile, the curtailment of shipments might assist the position. The beef outlook was more favourable for 1926.
