DR. BLACKALL'S HEROISM
LIFE LONG MARTYR TO SCIENCE. [By Electric Cable—Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, December 1. Scientists declare that there is no more striking case of martyrdom to science than that of Doctor Reginald Biackall, who had suffered greatly for twenty years, but was invariably cheerful. One of his colleagues lost his arm, another his life, but Dr. Blackall remained steadfast in the knowledge gained that the result of his martyrdom had rendered X-ray operators in London hospitals immune from risk. His heroism was recognised by annuities Qf £75 from the Carnegie Trust and £285 from a hospital. while his life was insured as provision for his widow, who has been a devoted nurse throughout their entire married life.
