CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Council of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday, when the president. Mr. H. L. Young, occupied the chair. Other members present wore Messrs. M. H. Oram, J. F. Stubbs, T. E. French, A. S. Fairc. A. T. Bendall, G. I. McGregor, .T. Carter, H. Bennett, J. J. O’Shea, A. Dawson and J. H. Stevens. The Palmerston North Borough Council wrote stating that it had decided to erect a book and magazine “bin” at the Central Post Office, as suggested by the Chamber. The chairman explained that the letter arose from the decision to place boxes in prominent places of the town, with a view of the general public being given the opportunity of presenting books and papers to be distributed to the charitable institutions throughout the district. The Borough Council also wrote regarding the weighbridge and advised that the matter would again bo considered when next year's estimates were being prepared. The Asscckuum of Chambers of Commerce wrote regarding the new Issue of a 10/- note by the Bank of Now Zealand and advised that representations were being made.
