The High Court continued the hearing of the Waish case. It over-ruled counsel’s objection that tho case had been improperly removed to the High Court. Senior counsel for Walsh then submitted there was no legal warrant for Walsh’s detention, as the section of tiio Act under which he was detained was ultra vires of Parliament under the Constitution. Argument was proceeding when the Court rose. SEAMEN DEFER DISCUSSION. TILL LEADERS’’ SHIPS SAILS. . (Received Tuesday, 5.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 1. A stop-work meeting of the Seamen’s Union reached no decision regarding tho deportation cases, other than should Walsh and Johnson be sent away, a stop-work meeting would be called immediately through tlhe Commonwealth, when a policy would be decided upon. A motion to bring out all coastal men was rejected. The Transport Group mot and adjourned indefinitely without reaching a decision regarding the deportation cases.
