HOKOWHITU SCHOOL COMMITTEE

Tho Hokowhitu School Committee held its monthly meeting last evening. Present: —Messrs. W. S. Woodroofe (chairman), C. D. Hepburn, J. Heatley, W. Kingsheer, F. Robbie, M. Voss,, and H. Whitehead (secretary) and th o headmaster (Mr. G. K. Hamilton) It was reported that 118 attendances had been registered at the dental clinic from HoKOwhitu during the month. Messrs. Kingsbcer and Heatley were appointed judges of the garden plots. Mr. Klngsbeer kind’y offered to look after the garden plots during the ho’idays. The chairman said that most of the members of the committee had paid a visit to the Turaldna Health Camp during the week-end. and were enthus'aetic in their praise of the great work being carried out bv Dr. Elizabeth Gunn. The progress made by the children was remarkable and Dr. Gunn was deserving of the gratitude of the community for the manner in which she conducted the camp.

The headmaster reported that tint attendance was well maintained. Thm children had been selected for tht health camp and supplies had been sent through the school to the camp. At the proficiency examinations, 29 scholars had been presented. It was proposed to hold a parents’ day on Thursday, December 17. when the children won d entertain their parents and oDier visitors. The year on the whole had been very satisfactory and th e work was .quite equal to that of previous years. The health of the children had been excellent. No cases of diphtheria had been reported during the year. The health of the teachers also had been excellent.
