NEWEST DIVERSIONS. [Per Press Association.! DUNEDIN, Last Night. Tho last of the Exhibition authorities’ own devices in tho amusement park, the river cave ride, started working to-day and -being the newest thrill, was naturally rushed. Passengers float through the darkness in and out of illuminated caves, grotosiiucdy modelled and painted with weird, cst monsters the imagination could create. At the end, the boats are hauled up an incline and plunge down a chute, the ride ending in a mmia. turo lake. Once in the caves the passenger can easily imagine he is in some other world, far away from the bustling crowds. To-night, the festival hall was filled to the doors, the effect of a reduction of prices to a popular figure. Tho Exhibition choir presented “II Trovatore” the last production until January There was a memorable cast of brilliant soloists from Covent Garden and other famous London houses and from Australia and the performance aroused extraordinary enthusiasm, “II Trovatore” will be repeated tomorrow. On Thursday and Friday the combined primary schools’ choir of 500 yoices is giving concerts. Saturday will be girls’ day. In the afternoon a girls big sports meeting the first of the kind in Dunedin, will be held at the Exhibition and at night, girls will give a big entertainment of tableaux in the Festival Flail.
