LARGE LIMOUSINE WRECKED

SMALLER OAR MUCH DAMAGED. LUCKY ESCAPE OF OCCUPANTS IN CHHierCHUHH SMASH, CHRISTCHUItCH, 'Nov. , 2S. Shortly after eight o’clock this morning a sensational motor accident occurred at the Stanmora Road Bridge, and a large limousine belonging to Mr. H. If. Stevens received damage to the extent of over £2OO, while a two-seater car, the property of Mr. L. MacKinnon, of Shtrley_,JßO£Ui, wo» badly damaged. None of the passengers was seriously hurt, although flying gloss resulted In mlnSr injuries. Th 0 limousine was coming along thg river road toward the city and the other car was going along Stanmora Hoad. Meeting on the tramline ,in Stanmore Road almost exactly in tho centre of the intersection the cam after the Impact apparently .slewed right round, tho limousine being hurled on to its sldo and striking a telegraph polo with tho bock of the roof ns it toppled over. Tho lighter car came to a halt facing the river road toward tho city.

Aroused by the craoh of the collision a crowd of people residing in the vicinity quickly gathered, and a remarkable sight met their eyes. The limousine was a complete wreck. Turned over on its right side with the back up against one of the abutments of the bridge it was a sorry spectacle. A skid mark left by one car stretched from the point of impact for nearly 40ft. down Stnnmoro Road. In the limousine were Mr. Stevens, his son .and two little, girls, one of them his daughter. Mr; MPokinnon was the only person in the other car. Mr Stevens’ son was driving the limousine. and he and his father and Jr Mackinnon wore cut, about tb e mo and hands by glass sp’lntcra. Shortly after the accident a delivery van belonging to Mr. Stevens, whd-1« a wholesale druggist, arrived, and ■tbo driver removed th e fittings of the car In order to' forestall possible souvenir hunters.
