[From Our Own Correspondent.] The Kairauga Hall was the scene of great activity on Friday evening when a concert and dance In aid of the Anglican church funds was held. The hall had been tastefully decorated for the occasion and the Palmerston) North concert party journeyed out, and supplied a varied first class programme. Early in the evening Mr Ax expessed his regret that the Rev. G. W. Dent was unable, through illness, to be present, and at the close of the evening Mr Turner moved a' vote of condolence to the Rev. Dent with the hopes of his speedy recovery and a vote of thanks to the concert party was enthusiastically carried. All the items were well received, each performer having to respond to an encore. The programme was as follows: —Quartette "Who la Sylvia’’, Moadames Russell and Borreson, Messrs Bell and Moxon; song, "May Morn”, Mrs Davies; song, "Glorious Devon”, Mr Moxon; song, “Adelal”, Mrs Borreson: musical monologue "The Three Trees”, Miss D. Osborne; song, "Husheen”, Mrs Russell; humorous song "The Egg”, Mr Dean; vocal duet, "I heard a Voice”, Mr and Mrs Davies; plantation songs, Mr F. A. Wollerman and chorus; vocal duet '“Nocturne”, Mesdamee Russell and Borreson; song, “By the Fountain,” Mr Bell: monologue, "The Water Mill” Miss D. Osborne: trio, “Ye Shepherds, tell me”, Mesdames Russell and Borreson and Mr Moxon; "The Stoker”, Mr F. A. Wollerman; song, “The Songs my Mother Sang,” Mrs Russell; Plantation songs, Mr F. A. Wollerman and chorus. The latter items proved very popular and the audience were loth to part with the merry “coons”. At the close of the concert a delicious supper was partaken of and dancing took place till a late "hour to music provided by W*sdames Wollerman and Borreson who also acted as accompanists for the'concert party. A very enjoyable evening was brought to a close by the singing of Auld Dang Syne and the National Anthem.
