A disagreement has occurred regarding the interpretation of the clause in the Protocol of the AngloGerman commercial treaty, whereby the British Government pledged itself not to impose duties especially detrimental to Germany. The German delegates claimed- that British customs duties on many German exports particularly pianos and 'other musical instruments, should be abrogated or considerably reduced in view of this clause.
