PINNED BENEATH LORRY
INJURED DRIVER’S PLIGHT. WHANGAREI, Nov. 28. At about five o’clock last night Mr. William Renner, aged 42 years, was driving a motor-truck containing cream and the mail up a steep hill at Helena Bay, 16 miles from Hikurangi. The vehicle was unable to negotiate the top, owing to the weight to be pulled. At this critical moment tho brakes refused to act and the truck commenced to go backwards. It turned over a fairly steep bank and Mr. Renner was pinned underneath. He was found in this position between seven and eight o’clock. Mr. Renner received a number of cuts about the face and minor injuries to the legs, and also sustained a fracture of the collarbone and ribs.
