ANOTHER DANIEL COMES TO JUDGMENT
Going home after the performance of "Are You a Mason?’’ on Saturday night a Palmerston North resident refused to allow his wife to buy fruit frm the street hawkers. "Besides the C.T’s are still on the Job and you can get a case for two bob" he added hopefully. Crossing the Square they arrived in time to put In 2/- for tha "selling Of the last horse,’’ there being eight candidates for the orange stakes. The optimist won and after getting the case home with some difficulty it was found to contain 101 oranges. iA well-known Palmerstonlan had tried his luck 14 times but stood out of the last round, investing his 2/- in a dozen oranges, instead of providing them for other people. The lucky number for the final case was decided on the number 52, the investor who called 51 having also occupied the same position for the two previous cases as well. Even at G oranges for 1/- they were worth nearly £2 a case. It transpired last night that the last case put-up had previously been disposed of, but the owner did not put in an appearance.
