PERSONAL PARAGRAPHS.

A visitor to Palmerston North over the week-end was Mr. J. Murray, late of Palmerston North, land now of Hamilton.

Mr. L. A. Abraham, of Palmerston North, has been appointed a member of the Overseas’ Trading- Committee of the New Zealand Seed. Grain and Produce Merchants’ Association.

The Prime Minister, the Hon. j. G. Coates, returned to Wellington on Saturday from the North, and Is making a good recovery from the effects of a rather severe cold.—Press Ahsn.

Mr. Ronald Abraham returned to Palmerston North on Saturday from Dunedin, where he had beea attending a meeting of the New Zealand Seed, Grain and Produce Merchants’ Association.

Rev. j. Thompson Macky, of Knox Church, Dannevlrke, was the preacher both morning and evening at St. Andrew’s, Palmerston North, yesterday, while Rev. G. T. Brown conducted the services at Knox Church, Danncvirke.

Mr. Joseph Sylvester Warrington Jackson died at the Auckland Innrmary last week, aged 100 years. Had he lived until January 29, he would have celebrated his 101 at birthday. Not very much is known about Mr. Jackson’s life. He was received at the infirmary two years ago, and for many years before that worked as a labourer. Hi s many occupations included gum digging. It is known that in his young days he wa s an officer in the British Royal Artillery, and about. 70 years ago came to New’ Zealand and fought in the Maori Wars. Until tho end Mr. Jackson retained all his faculties. The death occurred at her residence Ngata street, yesterday of Mrs. Margaret Cheatham, aged 76 years. Deceased, who was born at Durham. England, came to New Zealand with her husband and family 41 years ago, settling in the Hutt Valley, where they farmed until they removed to Bunnythorpe in 1913. It was while there that her husband died in '1913, after which Mrs. Chcetham came to Palmerston North to live. The surviving children are Messrs. Thomas (Te Puke), John Arthur and James (Rangitikoi Dine). Frank and Harry (Bunnythorpe), Miss Choetham (Palmen’s ton North), Mrs. Eason (Petone), Mrs. Baxter (Aorangi) and Mrs. H. J. Burrell (Bunnythorpe).

Father Christmas (the Kiddies special treat) arrives at Colllnson and Cunninghame’s on Saturday, 28th November and takes up his residence in the Magic Cave. Don’t forget to let the little ones see him. He gives a present to every ono who goes into the cave to see him.
