YOUNG PEOPLE’S ANNIVERSARY
The Palmerston North corps of the Salvation Army held its anniversary services in connection with the Young People’s classes. Special services were conducted .in the morning .when Lieut.-Col. Hoare,,of National Headquarters, Wellington, was the special speaker. The Colonel based hi® address on “Life' and Service” entreating, his hearers to keep, on giving the word of God to' others so that they too might learn to be happy in His great love. He stressed the need of always turning to God when ever in trouble or sorrow for only in prayer could real comfort come. In the afternoon the service was mainly one of song and story, the various classes taking charge of the major portion of the proceedings Put towards the close of the function the Colonel, after delivering a short address, presented prizes for good conduct and attendance to the children of the primary classes and cradle roll. Again in the evening the Colonel was the officiating minister and gave a very interesting and illustrative address based on the subject of "Redeeming the Time.” To-night there will be the yearly prize-giving to the scholars of the Intermediate and Bible classes, preceded by a musical programme con. ducted by the young people themselves.
