WANGANUI v. TARANAKI.

The Hawke’s Cup preliminary cricket match, Wanganui v. Taranaki commenced here to-day. The wicket was fairly good. Taranaki won the toss and wen; in to bat. The first btand was made by Lambert, who compiled 56. Bourke 28, also scored well. Treadwell and Bernau were the most successful bowlers. Wanganui immedately commenced scoring rapidly, the innings closing with 289, London 93, Hutchison 73, Wood 58,, being responsible for the majority of the runs. Scores. TARANAKI (First Innings).
