CHOKED BY FOOD
WHILE UNDER .ANAESTHETIC, [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN Last Night. An inquest on the body of a boy was held in the hospital regarding hla death under an anaesthetic. The ev idence showed the boy had been given breakfast as usual to allow a period of seven hours to elapse before the operation, but when tha operation was about completed. the boy was asphyxiated by food from th'. stomach. The condition was said to bo abnormal, as 4 to 5 hours waa the usual time allowed to clear tha stomach of food taken. The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence and said all precautions had been taken.
