WIDOW’S CLAIM FAILS. JURY CONSIDERS FOR 45 MINUTES. [Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Last Night. ■ Before Mr. Justice Alpers and 3 Jury of twelve In the Supreme Court was hoard the concluding proceedings of the case in which Maud Ellen Nicholsen, widow of the chief officer of the Ripple, claimed £ISOO damages from the Richardson Company. The jury found for the defendant Company. ;At the conclusion of His Honour’j summing-up, the jury retired, return, forty-five minutes’ later with a verdict for the defendant company. A rider was added to the effect that In the opinion of the jury, all coastal ships at sea should communicate with the meteorological office. The recommendation will be for. warded to the Minister by Mr. Jus. tice Alpers.
