WATER PRESSURE
AND INSURANCE COMPANY’S OFFER. As an inducement to the Borough to improve the water pressure for fire purposes, it was reported at the Borough Council last evening that the Fire Underwriters’ Association was prepared to lower fire insurance premiums to an extent that the difference in the charges would pay for the interest on a loan necessary to improve the water supply. In speaking on the matter Crs. Oram and Graham both referred to serious consequences that might follow on an outbreak of Are with the low pressure at present in the maina With the summer months coming on the position was likely to be worse. Cr. Edwards considered that if proper steps were taken to conserve the water supply the pressure could be improved.
