Yesterday the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board connected up 30 or 40 consumers on the Aokautcre line.

The Rev. W. S. Rollings, wellknown as an ex-president of the Baptist Union and as the author of “The Great Assize,” will bo heard to-night in a lecture in the Baptist Church, His subject will be "The 400th Anniversary of the English Bible and Wm. Tyndalo.

A public meeting is to bo hold in the committee room of the Borough Council Chambers next Thursday, July Hi, at 8 p.m., for the purpose of considering the site on which the Soldiers’ Memorial is to be erected, and all subscribers and other citizens interested in the matter are cordially invited to be present.

A lady expert will give a demonstration of cooking by gas at the Opera House (ground floor), at 2.45 to-morrow afternoon, under arrangements by the Municipal Gas Department. The public is cordially invited to be present.
